Trade ins are a dealer incentive, not related to the manufacturer. If your dealer won't take a trade in, try finding a new dealer.

I have the Bernina 435, which is the same as the 440QE except it's 9mm for the decorative stitches instead of 5mm. It is a pleasure to use and enjoy every minute of sewing on it. Congratulations on your 830. I've seen them when I took my lessons (which I took twice!).

My dealer took my Bernina 125 in trade for a 380 just last month. I then helped her sell the trade in by sending a friend that had been in search of a used Bernina. It worked out for all of us. I agree that another dealer might work with you.
