New Fabric Department!
#41
the walmart in lake havasu expanded their fabric dept. last year and brought in wonderful lines of quilt quality fabric. when doing that they sold out of alot of what they felt no longer went with there new expansion and sold them for $1 - $3 a yard. i cleaned up with over 100 yards of fabric before heading back to canada for the summer. needless to say i was a happy camper. i got alot of large 6-7 yard pieces for doing backs of quilts. thought ahead and really picked up some beautiful fabric.

I heard today that all should be back in April, all stores! Ours never left but boy did it get junky. It looks a little more organized now, but you still cannot find anyone to cut fabric for you.

Mine too! I was quite surprised at the quality of the jelly rolls and charms. Not a huge selection but very nice.

My WM here in Grants Pass is nice and large, but oh so messy and disorganized. Don't want to complain because I don't want it to go away, but it sure is hard to find things. Finding someone to help entails ringing a bell and waiting...and waiting.

We have a lovely lady who is assigned to the craft/fabric/shoe area. You have to walk around a bit, but can usually find her. If she's not there I call customer service and tell them I'm in the fabric dept and waiting for help. That takes care of it most of the time. Our store was remodeled about a year ago and the fabric dept was enlarged and a new cutting table put in. You do have to be careful of quality - just as you do in any store, but there are diamonds to be found if you're willing to look a while.

I live about 20-25 miles in each direction from several Wal-marts. The one in Navasota has greatly expanded and has what looks to be a really nice selection. The one in Tomball rearranged but didn't seem to expand. They have always had a fairly good selection and they usually have someone close by to cut fabric. The Hobby Lobby in Tomball is right across the street and has nice fabric too. There is also a small LQS in Magnolia that has a nice variety of fabrics at good prices. So I feel quite happy with my choices now. Wish Joann's and Hancocks were closer though.
