OhCanada, I would hope that some day my stitches will be as neat and tidy as yours are. Nice job.

Stitch ripper, I started out doing the running stitch and it is a fine stitch but a lady at a quilt store showed me how to do the rocking (putting a thimble on my middle finger and catching the end of the needle in one of the thimble holes and rocking the needle in and out of the material. My left hand is under the fabric and I feel the needle come thru and push it back up. My fingers underneath get really sore. I would wear thimbles on all major digits and sometimes I would tape them up with painters tape but all that is so cumbersome. Doing this stabbing is going to save my fingers big time.

So, I have hand quilted also. Can someone explain the stabbing method? I guess I do the rocking method. Or running stitch.

The stabbing stitch I've seen is like doing crossstitch. Needle goes in the fabric and back out out before the next stitch. You use your underneath hand to put the needle back up to the front.
