new to me technique

Ok you must remember I am not very familiar with piecing quilt blocks and such.I had to share this with you all because I thought how neat .These are borders on the quilts I was given ,when they joined the two pieces they angled the ends so the seam would not be as noticeable.I included two pictures they aren't the best but you can get the idea.
wrong side of border

right side of border join

That is the way I learned to do them. I was told it was the correct way for a few reasons. The joining line doesn't show up as much as a straight line, they are said to be a stronger seam and they lay flatter.

I have never taken a class due to teh fact I am out in the middle of nowhere literally so everything I know is either what I learned when my very very dear friend helped me with my first quilt, or found a tip online

It seems to me that this site is a wonderful resource for you then. There are so many quilters willing to help each other out and many tutorials to help you too.
Good luck with your projects!
