Welcome from McCalla, Alabama. Your Dresden Plate looks beautiful. Is the picture of the one you just made, or the example? Love it, haven't tried the DP pattern yet. I still very new to different patterns.

Welcome from Nashville. I too am a new member. I have pieced together my dresdon plate for my new queen size quilt but it is all hand pieced. Ive never tried to make placemats but it is very pretty

I copied this link a few weeks back from the Missouri Quilt Co. It is youtube and I found it interesting and helpful. Maybe it can help you find the answers - or create more questions that you can ask here. Good luck.

Welcome from Missouri. I haven't been on here very long either, but I can tell you that everyone really makes you feel welcome. I think your placemat is pretty.

You want to do it in quarters(3 wedges) then join 2 so that you have a half, then join the halves. You have to be careful to keep a consistent 1/4 inch seam, or it won't lay flat or fit together properly.

I think it is very pretty to me. The only thing I may see is all plate parts aren't equal but noone but a quilter will see that. I wouldn't do a thing to it. Beautiful job for a new quilter.
