I got a Grandmothers Flower garden quilt top from my mother, who got it from my sister, who bought it at a yard sale many many years ago. It had many holes and torn pieces all around the edges. After much thought, seeing it was not anywhere close to finishing, I decided to make it a little smaller on one end. I removed all the pieces torn and with holes, and replaced them with pieces from the cut off end. I knew that I would not be able to find any fabric to match, so felt that this was the only way to make the quilt look as old as it is. It is now being hand quilted by members of my guild, and should be done soon. Will post pictures when it is done.
    Good luck with yours.
