I just moved my sewing room and we put down hardwood and I LOVE IT! Swiffer and be done! I can move my cutting table around in circles if I want since it moves so easily! I acutally have to put the little brakes on!

If you search "organizing sewing room" here you will find numerous posts on how to get the most out of your space!

No carpet. If your feet get cold use a throw rug but too hard to keep carpet free of threads and pins.

FLOORS: We poured a cement floor and then stained it with acid stain and then polyurethane varnish. Looks great, is durable, and pins don't get stuck in it.
BATTING: We put 2 hooks in the ceiling and suspended chains from them. The rolls of batting hang between them, right over the cutting table.
SHELVES: You can never have too many shelves!
PANTO PATTERNS: Instead of keeping them rolled up and having to fight them every time, I unrolled them, folded them in half, and hung them with 1" binder clips to a curtain rod on the wall.

If I stored batting under my bed it would grow in thickness from all the cat/dog hair weaving itself into it. It's insidious.

I am using one of the kids' rooms since they have moved out and I have "enough" room, but notice there is a lot of empty space at eye level. So if I had a magic genie, I'd probably wish for shelving in those areas. I do have carpeted floor and while it's not ideal, when a pin drops it doesn't bounce and roll. I have a magnet wand that picks them up (and a granddaughter who loves to fish for pins!!). Lighting would be another wish for item. And maybe for the bed to disappear! LOL!

Love the above ideas, can't say enough for the walk around cutting table and design wall. The design wall could be made to hang using a cheap shower rod and flannel.
PVC trellis and s hooks is handy for hanging rulers, scissors and all those things you want "grab ready". My room is 7x10, it would be less cluttered if I could get rid of fabric, garment type, and UFO's that are not likely to get finished. Am having an anxiety attack at the thought of discarding any fabric. LOL.

Randa, my new hubby, who understands my passion, installed a new floescentsp? fixture with cool and warm bulb. Wow, what a difference, why didn't do this a long time ago. Not expensive and my eyes are very happy.
