If it is a smaller quilt, it really doesn't matter. But working with larger quilts, it is easier to break up the rows into sections rather than trying to sew on large pieces :D:D:D

I have not mastered an accurate seam so I do it by blocks 2x2 not by rows that way if the corners don't match I can make adjustments... My rows turn out horrible..

I also go by rows and if it is a larger quilt I do usually do two sections so the weight is better distributed for putting it together.
