Unhappy On No Creating UFO's

Sewing machine that I normally use for quilting is in the hospital for check-up. When I brought it in he told me 5-6 weeks. Well that meant week after Christmas. Was in there week before Christmas and he is has only one tech, down from 3. So estimating may take another 2-3 weeks. I'm still sewing and so far have 4 lap size tops for Project Linus. I sure hope Kevin calls this week so I can get my machine back before I am overwhelmed with UFOs...lol

My local Linus Project will take both finished quilts and to be finished tops. Check with yours, they may do the same.

Sandy, I did but she only wants finished quilts. Guess not enough quilters down here working with this charity.

Bummer Julie...I hope you get your machine back soon. I was going to take my machine for it’s annual checkup this month but they too said the turn around time could be a couple of weeks...I’m not willing to part with it in one of my busiest sewing months. I think I’ll take it in spring/summer when I am busy in the garden. Good luck

Hope you get your machine back quickly.

One thing about quilt tops though...they don't go bad. They will still be waiting patiently when you're ready to do them...just ask the 5 in my closet.

That is why we need to have several machines in our house (always have a backup that way). LOL

Your tops are small enough to quilt on a DMS. That is all I have and can do a very large quilt and all the 43" x 68" quilts I donate.

While doing my marathon sewing room cleanup I found 10 tops! Ugh, I didn't know I had that many. I don't even like a few of them any more lol
Back in 2015 I remember sewing and watching baseball all year. I made a lot of tops but didn't quilt any of them.

I find I have a seasonal variation in what I do......winter....do a lot of piecing.....getting a number of tops, backing, binding and maybe even the batting cut and kitted up for when it warms up then it is "cool" to hide out in my basement where my longarm lives....I do have a heater down there I can use in winter...but often the snow drifts cover the windows so it is like a cave down there....so most of quilting gets done in the warmer parts of the year....actually I like doing it this way cuz once I get everything out and ready to go...I can just keep on a quilting, .then rearrange and get back to piecing...

Kevin's assistant called, Kevin is the tech, informing me my machine will be ready this week! I interpret that to mean NEXT week. Until the next call, I'll continue to make UFOs. I discovered I'm really good at making lap size UFOs.
