Very pretty, I am seeing that you did not put in middle ground, from artist viewpoint there are three areas, background foreground and middle ground, looks to me that, that is what is making it look not quite right.
Beautiful work though.
And just another thought that cross beam fence is so pretty, but it would probable make it too busy.
You should be proud of your work.

I think you are doing a good job. The only thing that seems off to me is the ratio of roof to house and you are missing the dark line under the roof that indicates it has an overhang. You are going to end up with a beautiful art quilt! Don't get discouraged or give up. Love your choices of material!! :thumbup:

I think its great. If I could add my tuppence worth, I would have cut the grass into the fronds at the top instead of rounding it off. Perhaps make the house a bit taller. You are coming on a treat, I am loving it.

I think you are being far too hard on yourself. This is a first attempt at a new skill and your art quilt looks good. will it get better as you add more ? Probably. Will your second or third art quilt look better than your first - of course!

Frankly, I think it looks amazing considering this is your first one. Definitely has some of the feel of the photo. So finish, and even if it doesn't meet your own standards of beauty - keep it . Then when you have done 2 or 3 more you can look back and admire how much you have improved.

Ok,, not a compliment I would say the tree is too dark, and the red pot to red, they jump out. It is lovely tho, nice job.

I am one of these that gets very discouraged when partially through with a project. Somehow, I don't have the vision to be able to see the finished article. Thank goodness for my husband hounding me to keep on going. He is an artist...stained glass (draws his own patterns) woodworking, pen & pencil drawings.....My partially finished projects ALWAYS turn out so much better in the end. PLEASE keep going. You will be totally surprised & probably very pleased with the final artistic piece.

Is this the finished quilt or still in progress?

I think it would benefit greatly with some thread painting to add interest, shading etc.

Other than that, your interpretation is wonderful!

Based on some of the comments about the tree and jar too dark etc, again, this can be toned down with different shades of thread and thread painted ... I don't mean a thick, all-over thread painting, but to add bits of branches, browns or tans to add shading to the red jar ... that kind of thing.

I think you will be really surprised and delighted with this when you finish it.
