Outlining the flowers is exactly what I'd do. Quilting's not going to show up much on the print, and it'll give you practice hitting the lines you are aiming for. Even if you don't follow the lines exactly, as long as your lines are smooth and flowing, not squiggly, it'll look great.

This will be a beautiful MOD Quilt when you are done. If you don't belong to a MOD Quilt Guild you can join them on facebook and post it there and they'll be more than happy to give you ideas and even teach you how to do it if you need help.
A MOD Quilt Guild is known as Modern Quilt Guilds. They are not traditional, nor contemporary, but more of a free spirit creating there own designs and they primarily use a white background or gray for there canvas.
Here is the facebook link if you want to check them out.......

They started online about five years ago as a group of fiber art friends and it has evolved into an international new type of quild guild. There are chapters springing up all over the world and quite a few springing up in the U.S.

Can't you find a template to fit the blue blocks? I have never used a template...how do you make these feathers with a template? I know it is transfered to the fabric, but don't you FMQ on the lines?

J my opinion but I think your work already is fabulous. I think you could just do stippling in the blue areas and that way it wouldn't detract from your great white block work. I am sure others will have ideas, too. I think you are really great at it already. Or...practice on a scrap piece until you feel comfortable.
