I am one sick puppy I know. Here is what happened. I was trying to choose fabrics for my geisha panels and the first one was really hard on me and I wasn't sure even after spending 50+ dollars on the materials if I had chosen wisely. So I got to thinking.

I took the second panel and enlarged it in Paint.
Then using the paste from function I grabbed the fabrics that I was contemplating. Using the paste from function I brought them into the window with the geisha. Using the free select option I "cut" pieces of the fabrics and put them on the geisha panel and it worked. I will feel far more secure choosing fabrics from now on.

Is this what the fancy Quilting programs do for you?

Here is what I came up with

Wow! That's using your noodle --- and your computer. I wouldn't have thought of it either, but I sure will now. Thanks!

Nice job! Basic computer programs do more then what most use them for.
I don't know about fancy but have to have fast and easy. I have EQ and I can scan my fabrics and put them in the quilt pattern and see how the finished quilt will look in hundreds of layouts or block placements. Most fabric lines are in the EQ library, I haven't found one new line in years that isn't. Connecting Threads has all their lines in EQ format too.

You are sooo clever to think of this!! I am not very good with that program, but I guess I should spend a little time learning how to use it. Now that I see what it can be used for it gives me some incentive. Thanks for sharing!
By the way, thanks for sending me the link to the site for the panels....They are sweet!!

If you use "copy" rather than "cut", then you can fill in more, since you won't run out of fabric.

I use Paint to get the fabric swatches cut, and then I layout in Excel to have more space (I use Excel over Word, because Word likes to format pictures weird).
