I love my Ottlites. I had one for 15 years, bulb and all. When the lamp died, I had to repace the bulb as well as the lamp, but got one on sale at Michael's for 1/4 of the cost of the original. My portable Ott Lites are still on the original bulb, at least 15 years.

My lamps are just like Ottlites but I did'nt pay for the famous name. I ordered them online and they were less than half the price of Ottlites. All use the same bulbs. I have 3 of them and a folding desk lamp. Mine work great.

I got my full spectrum (natural light) at First Street Online, http://www.firststreetonline.com/Ele...nced+Spectrum/
It does require a special bulb from First Street, but after 7 years I'm still using the original bulbs.
Hope you find what you are looking for!

I have two off-brand Ott-lite style floor lamps. I bought them at Big-Lots for $30.00 each. The only difference in the lamps are in the price. I use one in my sewing room by my sewing table, which I also use over my quilt frame when I do hand quilting to see the stitches. I also have one in my bedroom, for when I occasionally do hand sewing in bed. I have had the first lamp for over 5 years and the second for 2 years - still using with the original bulbs. The replacement bulbs sell at Big-Lots for $8.99. Shop around to get the best price!

I have 3 Ott lights. The floor lamp, and two table lamps. All purchased from JoAnn Fabrics with coupons.
HOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER...at night I still seem to crave more light when I'm working on something. At the risk of sounding like a total L-O-O-N-Y DING BAT??? AT night.. if I'm cutting fabric or doing handwork.....er............ a.....I always wear an LED backpackers HEADLAMP ...LOL I paid about $15.00 for it on sale. Once my husband STOPPED LAUGHING AT ME he really saw my point in using it. It puts the light RIGHT WERE I NEED it...and my target work area is just LIT UP beautifully! Matter of fact.. I use it when I read at night too...... true story. We have an open space living room and there's just no direct light near my "nest chair".
Headlamp on.. problem solved. : D
