Your quilt is beautiful. The French Braid is such a nice quilt. I think the back will be fine. My question is how can we tell that the quilt in the first picture is upside down? Looks great to me!!!

If you look at the top of the pic it is thicker black supposed to be in the bottom I had friends hold it up for me and I was so excited that I didn't even notice....LOL

Your quilt is gorgeous and I often use a "surprise" backing. No complaints so far!

Gorgeous French Braid. The back will be fine in the colors you picked. Great job on this quilt. Thank you for sharing.

What if you made another french braid or two and inserted them in the black for the back?

My backs never match the quilt top - like Janice, I love a surprise on the back. Perhaps using a different fabric altogether and purchase enough that you don't have to piece and then use the intended back for a different quilt. The quilt top is so incredible, it would terrible if the backing became off-kilter in the quilting process. Good luck

I think all the other suggestions are great. I had the idea of doing a large T shape with the red on the back. I just think it would be kinda cool that when you fold down the quilt on the bed you would get a pop of red against your awesome braid.

Its fine...just smile at your DH and tell him that we said it will be ok. Do make sure its not lined up exactly center though...its hard to get those babies exact!
