Made this quilt with a white background and cotton appliqué in solids, turkey red and drab olive green for a 1785 Connecticut house.
this one is black flannel background with wool appliqué
it is called a Backyard Gathering from Lisa Bonegean
i don’t know why I can’t find the pictures of the white ones- I made two twin size for that Connecticut house

Any pattern that has been around since my grandmother's days would work like Churn Dash, Log Cabin, 4 or 9 patch and there are many more. It also helps if you use the right fabrics such as Civil War or Repo 30's. Good luck to you and your cousin on this adventure. Also, you could look up on Pinterest and type in vintage or old fashion quilts.

My cousin has opened a respite house for care-takers. It is an old carriage house, quite antique-ish. Beautiful. I want to make a quilt for the home but want something "old fashioned". And of course, the mind goes blank. Any suggestions? Probably a throw size, not a bed size.
