I hope is not touching the cedar. A friend of mine just had a beautiful quilt ruined because a cedar chest was agains it and the oils spreaded into the quilt. I would get it out of there as soon as possible.

It's in a cedar chest but wrapped in cotton. I will send pictures when my son comes home & gives me a lesson!!!

This sounds like a really old quilt, so I would look for a local quilt historian for advice. I would not finish the top, but look for safe ways to display it without changing it. If you change it, you diminish its value, and you wind up with something that is neither here nor there in history.
