Ok, when I was puttting the quilt top together, some little person decided that my big blocks of the wolfs needed extra trimming..... :-( ho hum...anyways I worked with with blocks and just sewed the top together...now we know this top isn't close to being square and in order to square it, I would be cutting off points in the side blocks and really just making a mess with the corner wolf blocks...sooooooo I was thinking, the first border needs to be cut 3" wide, could I cut the first border 3 1/2", add it to the unsquare top then trim my border back, so it becomes square...there is 2 more borders to add. Will this work?????
here is the quilt I'm making, this is just a picture of a finished one, this is not mine...

here are a few good how to do borders on my blog. I use many of these videos when I put mine together. http://www.thriftyideastoday.com/201...ng-sashes.html

I think your idea of adding a bigger border and then squaring would be good. Some days you have to pick your battles. I'd rather have nice points and let the border vary a bit.

That is what I would do, if the top isn't too far out of square at this point :D:D:D

Can't help you on your question. I can't really *see* what you're describing. However . . . . .That quilt is awesome.!

I've had to do that before. It is the perfect solution for something that is not so perfect. :-)

I agree with the person who said points are very important to me. Keep your points and vary what else you need to make it work. :)

I've done that. If the top isn't TOO 'unsquared', then your idea should work. To camouflage the trimming differences, I used a solid dark fabric for the border.
