One block wonder - layout option # 2

Here's another layout option ... no more Y LOL It's amazing how crooked it becomes after each block! I might have to start putting lines on my felt

Marion, your work is amazing! Any layout of this would be terrific.

I'm liking that much better--but how about on the blue hexie cubes having a diagonal line of 3 with one to the side like you show--I just like odd number stuff in designs.

Much better! But something about those cubes bothers me....is it that the dark piece is soooo dark it makes it pop out and drown the OBWs, instead of just transitioning into tha design element....don't know...but you have done a great job with this

I have been watching your progress on these obw blocks and I loveeeeeeeee your colors and blocks! IMHO the cubes take away from the obw blocks and would look better in another project. I think your beautiful OBW blocks should shine on their own,as they don’t need any help at all! Can’t wait to see the finished quilt!

I thought that the first layout looked like a vase with flowers in it. I liked it.

I like this layout! Interesting solution to the problem of the Y taking center stage.

This layout is better, but I'm kinda with the others who feel it looks like two different projects--a beautiful floral OBW and a cool cubes OBW. You said you don't want 2 quilts, though; how about a reversible, with the cubes on the back (although, IMO, the cubes deserve to star on their own right as a front).

I love this! It makes me think of someone excavating a wall in an old building-and discovering something underneath the initial surface. A true art piece!

I really like this layout. I might try moving some of the darker blocks from the lower left up by the blue cubes, although I don't know if it would be any better.

I think the cubes make this quilt sparkle. I really like them!

I don't care for those cites in it either. Find them distracting.

Better, but still doesn't work. Just my opinion. It is your quilt, remember.....so our opinions should not change your desire.

Thanks all! I will be trying another layout! I don't want two quilts LOL I see so many OBW with hexie cubes that I am bound and determined to find a layout that works!

Please keep posting comments / suggestions!

I find the cubes very distracting. Love the OBWs though.

Beautiful OBW. Personally, I would use only the 3 purple cubes and leave out the blue and green. That way you can show the cubes but not take away from the OBW but no matter what you decide to do it will be beautiful.

I,too, find the cubes distracting. I like the layout minus the cubes.
