I agree with "Y" look...not good. But maybe if you put the cubes along side their colormate hexies ad somehow go from color to color that way it may be more cohesive? Just guessing....have fun playing with this puzzle..it will be great!

I agree with jingle...Keep cubes on right side...no need to distract from gorgeous. Beautiful work..a true textile artist

I think I like your green cubes best. The white ones seem to pop out too much from the background. Love your progress - do keep posting!

The obw blocks are gorgeous! However, while the cubes are neat, imho the symmetrical pattern draws the eye to the cubes and away from the beauty of the blocks . If you are sold on the cubes, have you considered a wandering line and group the obws by color and gradation around and away from the cubes?

I like this layout. It kinda resembles a glass of champagne with bubbles escaping. Lovely.

I did something similar about a year ago and placed the cubes in a border. I’ll try to upload a photo if I can find the quilt lol. Wish I were there to help play with the arrangement, that’s the fun part. What was the original fabric?
