Moda calls them Honey Buns (I think). Check the Bake Shop.

I used them on an illusion quilt. I am not much for 'modern' quilts, but I absolutely loved this one.

Your thread reminded me of many uses for scraps-I have two large drawers full all separated into plastic bags by color. I never pre-cut them so that I have maximum choice. However, the replies to this thread are pushing my towards log cabin.

You could also sew them together in stratas, and cut shapes normally used with a solid piece of yard goods. ie..Kaliedoscope, Dresden, pinwheel, pockets on a bag, a QAG, etc.

Default Triple Sashing with nine patches!

Let's think outside the box! I like fast charity quilts so I typically avoid 1.5" strips. However, I like to mix it up SO I have been using three 1.5" strips (light/dark/light or vice versa) as sashing with a nine patch as cornerstone from the same color combo to surround 6.5" or 8.5" fabric squares. It goes together fast with continuous piecing. You can cut part of the nine patch strips as you cut the sashing from the WOF chain pieced strips. Looks pretty classy too! Here's a web page with an example:
http://sistersandquilters.blogspot.c...ng-finish.html

Just imagine that this isn't done on point, uses the same two colors in the nine patches as in the sashing, and has big plain blocks as centers. Much quicker to work up and a great way to use those beautiful fabrics that you hate to cut into.

I just finished a top with 1 1/2 inch strips. I started with a square of fabric and kept adding onto one side. I would post a picture but I don’t know how. My pattern is at another location and I won’t be there for another week. If you can send me a message with your e mail I will send it to you next weekend. Carolelee
