The quilt is simply stunning. You must be so proud of your daughter. I've always loved the name Quinn. ALas, I had 3 boys so never got a chance to use it!

I have to agree with the log cabin idea. I never use logs larger than 1.5 inches, frequently use 1&1/4 inch logs. I use at least 4 rounds, often 5 or 6 as I it makes such texturally interesting quilts.
The quilt below is one made years ago for my daughter at college (she's now a pediatrician and 37-year-old mom to 5-month-old Quinn). The fabric in one "log" looks like lace but is actually just a loopy print in the black fabric. There were 5 logs on each side of this one, with a 1.75-inch "hearth" block.
