Thank you for I didn't find where it had to be a pointed ruler either...I have ther One Block Wonder Encore book.

Mary , I used the same ruler as you and has not tip on it. I cut all the block and then read that you should have the tip. It is working ok for me but I am not done yet. I hop they go together in strips good. After I get this OBW done, I don't think I will ever do another. Have to see.

It looks to me that you used one ruled item to measure and cut, and another ruled item to line up and cut the fabric. Make sure the measurements on both rulers match. They don't always, as others here can attest.
