Moda has a list of their top 50 marbles... #1 is jet (darkest black) and #4 is... black. !! (#2 is off white, and #3 is royal blue).
But, while we do sell a fair amount of black, it's definitely not one of our top colors.

If it were me, I'd get a few from each of the color families, plus some that can be used as blenders (like someone else just said, "neutral" batiks are hard to find). Of course, if it were me, I'd order them all, close up shop, and have fun playing....

I must confess that I'm very partial to the watery blue green purple tones. But I betcha a nickel that there's lots more on the swatch fan that would have me drooling if I had actually had it in my hands.
