There is a way to extend the batting or backing by cutting it in the diagonal, slide one half down until it is the right length and width and the stitch it back together. This works if it is too wide on one direction and too short on the other.

I wonder how a wool blanket batting would wash. My experience with camping is that everything gets dirty. How would you clean this warm blanket? Aren't there warm battings? What do they put in these thermal sleeping bags? They are all sub zero. Good luck!

My suggestion is to go to an Army/Navy surplus store. My gd went to such a store before she went to work for the CCCorps in Arizona this past summer.

The wool blanket was washes several times holding together fine. As for washing this quilt I would have to take it to the laundry mat and use the big machine. Should be fine. After I get it quilted I will take it and clean it.

I would place blanket in the centre and match up the sides with batting or another blanket.i would do this be cause of the weight. I had to add to a quilt for a show last minute it needed to be 1metre(40inches). All I had was a blanket and when you hold quilt it is possible to feel the weight of the blanket belong luckily shutters on a window.
