I use zip lock bags and the heavier plastic zippered bags as well. I like to see what's in them at a glance. I store them side by side on a shelf, like books.

I have never posted before...love the forum. Really enjoy the pictures and all the info that is shared. I want to share this bit about pizza boxes. They work great..I have projects in a couple. Several in my quilt group use pizza boxes. The down side----I heard this about a quilter from another group. She left her "pizza box" sitting on the table and her husband decided to straighten up and thinking it felt empy he threw it in the trash. The trash truck ran before she realized what happened. So tape a sign or picture on the front. A couple ladies in my group put the boxes together with the print side to the inside---which is easy. In this case I would put a piece of muslin or a hand towel under my project so the project would not be on the print. Oh, and I have no idea what happened with the husband....sure it was not a happy time!

if you go to the print shops, they can and will save the boxes (with lids!) for you.
Also, I go to payless shoe store, they have some great sizes, the bigger boot sizes, they will give them to you. then you can either cover with paper or shelf paper. Look on You Tube also, you will find some great ideas, one was to cover a pizza box ! try asking them for 2 boxes per week.

Here is a pic of my sewing room shelves with the shoe box size and the bigger size craft boxes. I have since reorganized the shelves and have more of the bigger boxes.

I use pizza boxes, clean ones I got from the eateries. I store my quilt blocks in them. I have several boxes for different projects-in-progress. I put a big note on the top naming what quilt blocks are in the box. One box has the picture of the quilt. Makes it nice when the mood hits for which project to work on. for my fabrics, I have the bins, color separated and label also on the top and side.
