Default Organizing Embroidery Designs for Quilts

Can someone tell me how they organize their embroidery designs? Is there a special program to purchase that would help, I have so many, but spend so much time looking for what I want. I make a lot of baby quilts with embroidery designs, plus many other things.

I have a great one that was free that I have used for years. Tried and can't figure out how to send an attachment here. PM me with your e-mail and maybe I can get it to you that way.

There are many ways and programs out there. I have a Viking and it comes with an organizer but it is still a work in progress as to how I want to organize it. My teacher who has been working for Viking for 8 yrs says she still changes it. Here are some tips she gave me and these I do to make my life simpler. When I order designs I download them into a fold called orders, which has sub folders for each company, like orders_Viking or orders_JuJu. Here I save the orginal file with orginal name. I do this because even though most companies will let you redownload a design you've bought, you have to know the orginal name and of course what company you got it from. Most companies archive some designs every so many yrs and if you go to that sight and can't see the design you may not know the orginal name. Not all companies like emblibrary.com keeps your orders so that you can pull them up or redownload them at anytimes. Alot you have to contact the company for and then they look it up and give you access to; but you have to know the orginal name. After I get the file (usually a zip file) I copy the design into another folder and rename it to something that makes since. for that it might look like this, A folder named Kitchen, there maybe a sub folder called food and in it is a folder named Viking and in it is all of my designs from that company; renamed. My teacher has the design names to also reflect the company name but that can cause for along name so I put them into a folder. I want to make sure I can find them. For my software I'm in the process of having a jpg created for each of them so that I can make a photo album for them all. Floriani also had an inexpensive program I think called Image Creator, but its main (maybe only) purpose is to display all of the designs so that you can scroll thru them and find what you want even if you don't know the name, you can see them. It's only around a 100 or a little less; I bought it at a show last yr for the special of 59. Good luck. If I can help anymore of if you need more clarification let me know. I'm the type of person that needs to see what they have or I forget about it. Thats why in my sewing room; I have to have my fabric out on the shelves, if its out of site, it's out of mind. Since I put them all on the shelves (well, most of them) I have bought verylittle fabric. Even now, most of my designs are free or on sale. Rarely do I ever pay full price of any designs.
