You are lucky to have enough shops to "hop" to. In my area there's one here, another 1.5 hours away, and another 2.5 hours in another direction! No way to shop hop.

I went on a really fun shop hop by bus several years ago (northern Indiana & Ohio). We had an 'ugly' fat quarter give-away (every brought a fat quarter in a brown paper bag, turned one in, picked another bag). We also had an overnight stay, so they had a Quilter's Bingo in the dining area of the hotel in the evening. It was a lot of fun - wish they still offered it
