The Ott light is very simiar to the brand you bought for regular sewing. Where the Ott light is different is in Cross Stitching. There are SO MANY colors of floss, the Ott lite shows the true color, as if you were out in the sun. The bulbs are very expensive. I don't know if your light is True Sun or not, but it probably doesn't matter if you are not doing Cross Stitch. I use both, but only the Ott for Cross Stitch.

I've bought 3-4 of the lights from Menards. I got my for 19.99 a couple of years ago. Gave one to my mom for Mothers day that year. I also bought extra bulbs, just incase they burned out before I could get to town to purchase another. Still haven't had to use them.

Good price. Tuesday morning is another good place to watch for them.

sigh..... I wish I could use the OTT Light..... I bought one a few years ago for my MIL ( back when they were first out.. paid BIG BUCKS for it too) She loved it!!!! From what I understand from my Opthamologist & Migraine Dr. These Ott lights give off a blue light , thus making it more like real sunlight... Herein lies my problem with the light. My eyes are sensitive to the Blue UV of natural sun light and the OTT lights... I Have to wear the Blue Blocker sunglasses if out side any length of time or I end up with a MEGA migraine. With in Minutes of being in the same room with MIL OTT light.. I have the beginnings of a migraine.... sigh..... I wish I wish... but I just can't... the migraines just make it impossible to tolerate.

Yup. I bought a similar lamp to the Ott at Fred Meyers in Washington state. Works great and a third of the price. I have one for my sewing table and one that is a floor model. Same type of bulb but also much less, I think they are about $8.00 :D

Thank you ladies for all the options of stores where I can look for the Ott-type lamp here in AZ. When I sit down with coffee and read every ones postings It's like we're all sitting around the table having coffee and swapping the latest sales and unbelievable finds.

Thank You...Andie :D
