Yeah, the one in Issaquah said they lost their lease, too. I was just in the Bellevue store today. It is a tiny store, but I found two batiks for my grandmother's flower garden. The same time the Issaquah store closed, we lost The Loft which was a LQS in the same area. Now we have lost the Calico Cat and Pieces. I did hear a new LQS is opening in Kent, but I don't know where or when. It will be nice to not have to go so far from home to get nice fabrics. I shop Taylor Creek in Maple Valley. Her shop is about 15 mins from my children's school, so I can stop in there before I pick them up. That is nice.

Pacifc Fabrics Northgate and Everett stores are favorites.

Kas, if you're looking for batiks, the Quilt Barn in Puyallup has the best selection of batiks probably in the entire state. Beautiful shop, nice people, incredible selection of fabrics, and LOTS and LOTS of batiks.

I really like Pacific Fabrics because if you need some notion or gizmo, they have it...Fabric is good and well priced. I wished they had more selection but still like to shop there. I think the South Sound area needs a shop like this. I will miss it!
Heck with JoAnns. I very rarely shop there, coupons and all.
I guess I will start to look more online.

Yes, Quilt Barn is a great lqs. They are one of the larger ones in this area. I really like how many pre-cuts they have. I am addicted to charm packs and they always have lots to choose from. My other favorite lqs is Carriage Country Quilts in Des Moines. Love the store and love the staff:-)

I've become mostly an on line shopper for fabric. Our LQS fabric is in the $11 yd range...way too high for me.Not sure how any LQS will stay in business with the high prices.I have 2 gift cards to use at a fav shop & when gone, will have to stick with on line.

I love choice and when one shop closes it limits my choices. I suppose I will become more of an online shopper like others. I just like to finger my fabric before I buy.[/quote]

I live by the Narrows Bridge in University Place. More and more of us who are sewers and crafters are having to travel too many miles to get our fabric. I was willing to drive to Puyallup to Pacific Fabrics, but now really don't have a place to go after they close. It seems like Tacoma is a pretty big city and could support more than Joann's Fabrics. I would love to see someone brave the waters and move into our city. Give us some consideration please ! Evergreen Fabrics is a wonderful quilt store, but I sew my clothes and need a store that carries interesting clothing fabrics. So sorry to see Pacific Fabrics go, I have really enjoyed this store.

I love this shop! It is just a haul to get there and I never have enough time. Since it opens at 10:00, I have to get there right at opening because I have to leave EXACTLY at 11:00 in order to not be late picking up my son from preschool at 11:30. I was there last week and left at 11:09. I was late to get Ben. Oops!

That is too bad. I worked for Pacific Fabrics in Anchorage AK for a number of years. Everyone up there was so sad to see them close their stores up there! I moved to WA in year 2000 and went to work at Pac Fab in Bremerton. Worked there for several years until grandkids and my health told me I needed to stay home. The nice thing about Pacific Fabrics is that they carry alot of notions that some quilt shops don't carry!
