Why?? did I use it? As I was woking with it I was wondering that myself. This paper is supposed to make this pattern easier to make. After all fabric is ironed down then you put right sides together, the fabric fold easily on the gap between squares and sashing. You then sew 1/4" down from fold. This method works well if/when all fabric sticks to paper but I had problem with fabric not sticking. The squares are 5" with 1 3/4" sashing so by using the paper grid it should be easier to work with this size units and to get them on point. Try this method youself and let me know how you did.

I guess I have to ask why you used the grid paper for this design.....it seems so simple and straight forward, just squares and sashes........I have not used the grid paper and really don't think I ever will...it just seems too bulky.......small things/foundation piecing....anything else can just be cut and pieced without that extra layer......JMHO

I used this paper per pattern instruction just to try something different. Also I think that it would be tedious to make this quilt without paper since the squares are 5" so one side of sashing would be 5". Paper should have made it easier but that was not my experience. Top is not that extra heavy with paper although the seams are somewhat bulky. I will probaby not make this again but the finished results were worth the aggrivation.

I tried the Grid pattern as well and don't care for it. OH wait - I am the one that talked you into it! I thought you would like something different to try (which you did) you just got stuck with some "not so good" pellon grid. I felt so bad for you when you called to say the fabric wasn't sticking. I haven't used it since I spoke to you. I am so used to cutting the squares and making the sashing the usual way.

This quilt is goregous by the way! I loved the colors when you showed them to me!
