This machine is advertized on Craig's List with the Fabric Mover. I can't seem to find the information I want on the "fabric mover" in my Google searches. Does someone know if the fabric mover comes with the stitch regulator or are they sold separately? It sounds like it's all one unit to me. Thanks!

I think what they are calling 'fabric mover' is Pfaff's even feed. It's a lever behind the sewing foot, that you can engage or release. In fact I usually leave mine in the 'on' postion.

It probably refers to the IDF. The integrated dual feed, which is AWESOME. I love mine and I notice when I forget to pop the lever down, it doesn't sew as evenly. When it is properly engaged (merely by pushing the lever down) it sews like a dream. And it works in place of a walking foot. I wish my Featherweight had a built in IDF!

DJ - Dolphyngyrl gave you a link to something similar to the Fabric Mover. It is a platen that moves which allows you to do about a 10x10 (can not remember the exact size) of free motion quilting. Some earlier ones came with or with out a stitch regulator that connected the moving platen to the plug for the foot pedal (you would have to ask if this one has a regulator). It was not a bad attachment for smaller projects but could be tedious on large quilts.

The even feed is called an IDT - Integrated Dual feed. This can be engaged by snapping it down and into place (some feet allow the use of this feature some do not). It is a fantastic feature - the bottom of the foot actually has a moving gripper that moves the top piece of fabric at the same rate as the feed dogs.

The fabric mover attaches to the sewing machine. It moves freely in all directions but the opening isn't very big. It does have a stitch regulator with it. I've been having fun with mine when I have time. The opening is not 10x10 for the machine in question. More like 6X6. I have a 2170 so it's in the same class as the machine the OP posted.

I just bought a second hand Pfaff Classic Quilt 2027. I wonder if there is a brand/type of thread that is better/worse for the machine. So far Coats Dual Duty seems to work well. So far, I'm having trouble with Coats Machine Quilting and Crafts, Mercerized ELS Cotton, Egyptian, thread. This thread is from Hobbly Lobby, 30 wt, 1200 yards. In price it's comparable to Dual Duty, but it's not feeding through the machine very well, and has broken a few times. I don't know how to decide what the problem is. I have threaded, rethreaded, watched videos on threading and winding bobbin. So, now I wonder if it is the type of thread. Can anyone offer guidance? Thank you.

I don't know about this machine but I have a Pfaff 2056 and I do better with Gutterman than Coats and Clark.
