Default Blooming 9-patch and Island Hopping

I have come into a little extra cash and want to get fabrics for a new quilt for my bed. I have fallen in love with one of the new collections at Connecting Threads...Island Hopping....and beating my head against the wall trying to find a pattern that will "go" with the fabrics. I finally remembered about the Blooming 9-patch and thought it would be perfect. Any thoughts before I order the book? Here is the link to the fabrics:

WOW, that is a bright collection. Are you talking about Blanche Young book?? I recently purchased it on sale from C&T publishing. I am concern that there are no lights and darks in the collection and most of them are screaming bright. Good Luck.

I am wondering, too, if you need more contrast between the fabrics. I wonder if there is any advice about that in the book?

too matchy matchy and the pattern turns to mush. It is one of my favorite quilts, probably the only one I'd ever make a second time.

(mine was all from stash, I call the quilt an archaeological dig)

Looking at the pic on the cover of the book, I don't see much contrast, just brights that play well with each other. I may swap out a couple of the smaller prints for a few larger prints, but basically in the same color combos.

I don't know, I think you could make it work if you strategically place, but I don't think it will create the light to dark texture that you see in the blooming 9 patch, I think it would look more like a rainbow, but I don't say that as a bad thing. I love the bright and beautiful collection and think it would be great! The green 'beachy' print could be your dark...

I think this pattern might look really cute with that line:

You're right about the one on the cover. It's so cute, it looks like confetti!

I love this pattern. You not only need contrast between light and dark, you also need a variety of scale.

I made the Blooming Nine Patch using all solids. Big mistake. I didn't like how the quilt looked at all. The prettiest one I've seen used all floral fabrics of different scale. I'll try to find the picture of it.

I found this that reminds me of the Island Hopping Line: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...9ebc56cc0c.jpg

I googled Blooming 9-Patch and got a lot of beautiful images of these. Here are a few you might like:
The first 2 look like fabrics in a similar colorway
