Default Piecing fleece backing

When using fleece as a backing for a larger than lap size quilt, what size fabric (I going to use flannel) strip do you use to cover up the joining?
FYI the top is corduroy.

I am not sure that I understand your question. I have pieced backings before with fleece and minky, but I didn't use any fabric to cover the join.

I don't know about covering the join, but when I join backing I use about 3/8 inch seam and press it open.
I like to have a little larger seam for baking.

I'm wanting there not to be a big lump at the join as it is also where there is a seam joining the border to the main body of the corduroy quilt. So a seam in the fleece on top of the seam in the corduroy would be a pretty big lump. I'm doing this as a type of QAYG. There is one large piece of fleece for the main part of the quilt and I'm planning on two border pieces at the ends the same finished size (8") as the borders on the front.
