    Unhappy Pillow sham help

I am planning on making 2 pillow shams for my bed. Reg.size. On the center I want to put a carpenter wheel pattern.
The center panel is cut at 21x28. What size blocks should I make so that it will fit the center of the panel?
The pattern for the quilt calls for 64 squares. How would I squeeze in 64 squares into that small space.
    Please help

You could use the 12" pattern and center it and then add a matching border. This link shows a dresden plate one that's attractive. http://www.craftsy.com/blog/2013/12/...erns-projects/

I'm not sure if this will help or if i can explain it well enough. Find the exact middle of your panel. Lay that out on a larger piece of fabric. From that point measure both sides, top and bottom to the exact size you want the pillow sham to be including one quarter inch stitching (if that is what you will be using). Then figure out how how large each of the 64 squares measures to figure out how many you need to complete the size of the top. Or you could find the center of the panel, place it on a larger piece of fabric then measure both sides, top and bottom to the meassurement you want the sham to be and add a couple of nice complimentary colored borders. Hope this heps.

Carpenter wheel is 8 squares X 8 squares. If you want to make it fit...if i were doing it i would make the squares finish at 2 1/2 inches...that would give you a finished size of 20 x 20...then add borders with sizes as needed to make the final sham size you want. But that's just me.

On Quilters Cache is a pattern for a 24" carpenter's wheel. Each square or hst is 3" finished. If you follow the directions but make each square 2" finished, then you will have a 16 1/2" carpenters wheel(unfinished). I would add a 2 3/4" x 16 1/2" strip to top and bottom, and a 21" x 14 1/4" strip to each side. This will give you a panel of 21" x 28". If you make the wheel the size of the panel, parts of it will be lost in the curve of the pillow top and bottom. The site is http://www.quilterscache.com/C/Carpe...heelBlock.html
    Good luck!! Ann
