I make Ball mason jar pincushions to sell, these are very easy to make too.
I don't like the tomato one either.
I use cjmomma's, colorful and holds small notions for whatever I am working on at the time. My "best buy"!
Thank you, I'm glad you are enjoying it.

Put some thought into how you would like your pincushion to function. Handy on a table, chair etc? Perhaps you'd like a wrist pincusion? Perhaps you really want a small book one for storing your special needles in? Give it some thought and definately look at the show coming up. Most sewers love making them and I'm sure there is one out there with your name on it. If not...custom make yourself one. You can do it!

I am using a tightly stuffed animal,,,,I use the head for needles and the body for pins. It lies flat and I love it. I have also used successfully the magnetic piin holders and well as my magnetic seam guide. Try lots of things and you will find the one that is right for you. This may take years :D :-) :)

Funny that this thread came up. I was cleaning up my area yesterday, and after moving my pincushion back and forth about a dozen times, sticking in stray pins, I realized I needed to make another one.

Mine is so simple I won't bother posting a photo. I make the rice and lavender pillows, and just made a small one, minus the lavender, and overstuffed it. I can sit it anywhere and it stays put. You can make it as large or small as you need it, out of any material...mine has pretty butterflies.

I REALLY need to make another one, lol, before I make anything else. This one is overstuffed with pins. I liked the looks of the one with the thread catcher, but minus the catcher. Lol...everyone has their own ideas.

You just need to squares of fabric, any size you want. Sew all round leaving a small opening for turning and fill with either, polyfill, crushed walnut shells(available at pet shop)left over batting. My personal favorite is dead chicken which I made 3 yrs ago. Pm me and I "lend" you the pattern if you like. You can use any fabric with an off orange/yellow for the dead chicken.

I make felted wool pincushions (as pictured to the left). I personalize them with charms. People just love them.

And that is also what I use, I have one on my cutting table and one by my sewing machine.

You need to find something that you like and just go for it.

Does anyone have any of the Heather Bailey animal pin cushions for sale? I've seen them in shops but can't find anyone who sells them.
