    Here's Rhonda's easy Cut-Down method:
    http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-88345-1.htm

And here are some of her other block methods:

    http://www.bitsnpiecesworkshop.com/p...aresBlocks.php
    http://www.bitsnpiecesworkshop.com/p...goutBlocks.php

For those of us who freak out at the very mention of the word "hypotenuse," this method takes the steam out of it. :)

I'll assume that 9" is the finished size:
You could make it 8 across and 9 down for 72" x 81" and add some borders if you wanted it bigger. That's 72 blocks so quit early or make a few more and have it 8 across and 10 down with 80 blocks or 72X90.
If the finished size of your block is 8 1/2" then you will lose 1/2" for every seam joining the blocks so about 4" smaller across and up and down.

How big do you want it?
There is no set pattern! Everyone is doing their own thing after the blocks are done.

    :-D

Does the hour glass block count?? It is basically the same. I have about dozen of them to make for my mini yellow and blue star quilt. K

If this is what you are using, I think it will be beautiful with lots of contrast.

No fabric is wrong as long as it is what you want!

I think you fabric is lovely. If you like it that is what counts the most. I hope you add some qold to give it some more punch maybe in a different block.K

I am going to work on two projects at the same time. One with the hour glass in a mini quilt 24" x 24". That will have 20 hour glasses in them. Then the other is true pinwheels with 30 of them. That would equal 50 then will still need to make 28 other pinwheels to finish out the challenge for something else. Does this make sense? K

Does 9" finished mean after I sew them together or before? Right now a single block is 9". I'm thinking that's not the finished measurement.
