I like the gold center, it gives the block a pop and that's what you're going for. While the red is beautiful, it sort of blends in with the other fabrics, all of which are beautiful by the way. Nice job and good color choices of fabrics.

I like the red or the gold. You might consider changing your background for something with a little less contrast--maybe a pale cream or very light gold. It may not make any difference but lay it out and see if you like it.

That's a great idea, to look at other background options.

I love the center in the second block, I would consider using it for all your centers....I am thinking you are doing three. The plate is fantastic!!

For contrast I do like the COLOR of Gold you have but I do not like that particular fabric. The red and green do not have the contrast you say your looking for, they blend in to much. The white is just to bright for the rest of the fabrics but that could be because you have it on top of white fabric. I would try a different gold fabric.

what about using the black you have the square laying on as the center and the sashing... all the colors will pop with that!

I thought about the green. I do not have the right shade though. I may have to take to my favorite quilt shop and have Barbara help me with the fabric. I am thinking about green for the sashing since that is the color of the backing and binding. I may see what that green looks like.

I would use a green with the design being outlined in gold and I would also use the same fabric for the sashing. Here is a pix of what I mean - got it at Joanns and its by Cranston Village.
