I think the gold center helps the small amount of gold in the other fabrics to pop.

Here are some other choices that I tried. I really did not like the black. It stands out too much. You gave me the idea of a solid green. Then it hit me why not use the fabric that I am going to use for the sashing, back and binding , DUH! There are actually 20 blades in the plate. I am so frustrated with this. I refuse to purchase more fabric.

using this one will make it flow better with the sashing and backing

If the center is big enough, have you thought of doing a 'sashiko' embroidery design on it, with either red or black thread.

I do not really do machine quilting. I am just starting to try my hand at that. Can you show an example of the stitching that you are talking about?

You said you were thinking of using the fabric for the sashing back and binding .... what is that?

Are you mounting it on the white?

As for the black and white centre .... sorry IMHO it looks totally a misfit as there is no "white" in the blades of the Dresden Plate.

I prefer the gold, also, but with smaller print or design in it. I am a green lover and would go w/ that and find

another color for the sashing as someone else suggested. It is a tough decision.

IS YHE BACKGROUND WHITE OR OFF WHITE, MAYBE THAT WOULD BE BETTER IN A LIGHT YELLOWISH-GREEN TO MATCH THE HOLLY LEAVES. THE CENTER COULD BE LIGHT COLOR WITH AN IRRIDESCENT THREAD OR GOLD METALIC THREAD INTERWOVEN

Your blocks are all gorgeous but I don't care for the white.
It is too bright for the other fabrics you have chosen.

I think picture 2 SCREAMS Christmas, and is the best and sets the plate off beautifully. The rest don't compare.
