Of the choices presented, I vote for the gold. It makes everything look rich and elegant. I think it is going to be a beautiful runner.

Welllll...I like the white center because it makes your Dresdan look like a Christmas wreath.

what if you used a darker green for the center? I think what you aren't liking is the way the centers blend with the blades. A darker center would stand alone.

I did think about that. However finding that fabric is not easy. It seems that the fabric shops do not carry a big variety any longer.
You could always stipple in the gold with metallic thread.
