I really like the red! It pulls out the points on the plate. Don't care for the other choices, too blah for me!

matching your sashing would look best what ever color you chose..

Sashiko is strictly done by hand. You can try looking at some patterns in Sylvia Pippen's books, or try going to shibori.com and look in their sashiko page. Here is an example from one of my blocks

Wondering .... have you decided what you are going to do yet?

Did you consider the black suggestions that were made?
Plain black fabric with gold metallic thread for quilting would be perfect!

It's been nice to be able to see the different choices with your block; each one makes such a difference. I'm going to agree with QuiltE--I still like black. Can't wait to see what you decide.
