I was watching Sewing with Nancy and she
had a portable ironing pad. Wonder where
I can get what I need to make one for a
friend ?? Any suggestions will be appreciated

I'm fairly sure you can get the silver fabric at Joanns - as well as insulbright. Of course, Nancy's Notions also sells those supplies.

If you google 'portable ironing mat' there are lots that come up. Some are under $10. May be less expensive to just buy one.

I wouldn't be surprise if Nancy Notions actually has the one she uses on the show for sale on her website. Free shipping this Labor Day weekend.

The portable ironing pad was probably one she sells. I have one and I love it. I did have to make a couple covers for it, so I can wash them as I trade off a fresh one. I tend to use far too much starch, LOL!

You could borrow her sizes to make one from the site.

I got a Fons and Porter ironing mat on Amazon. It wasn't expensive. I used it at a class and it worked great for the small project I was doing.

I made mine with 3/4 " plywood and batting insul bright and canvas cloth. I had a leftover piece of everything mentioned after making my extra large ironing board for quilting. I take it in the RV when we travel and use it in the sewing room at home. Works great!

Yes, Joann does sell the insul bright batting. It's in it's own little section, tucked away (at my local store, anyways), but they do have it.
There are some great tutorials on YouTube to make them. I don't have room for one, but I seem to remember watching a DIY one night when I was bored. lol

I took a sturdy piece of cardboard and covered it with batting and fabric. I've used it every day for months and it's fine. Doesn't take much to press pieces when you're working on a project. I have my ironing board for bigger things.
