I just rewind them and use them like regular bobbins in my machine . Didn't even think to not reuse them  Hope this is ok ? Mine are the plastic for a Brother machine

I guess I am odd girl out as I have no idea why I would buy a pre-wound bobbin when I can buy empty bobbins, wind thread on, use up, re-wind again and keep doing this. What am I missing? Remember, I don't get out much and live in the country with one LQS within 45 minutes and JA's and WM 1 1/2 hours away. Fill me in, what am I missing here?

commercially prewound bobbins hold googobs more thread than you'll ever get onto a bobbin using your sewing machine.

also, they are extremely convenient.

naturally, they're also a bit pricey.

i only buy prewound on reusable bobbins. if they don't have that little hole, i pass them right on by. i have a big box of prewounds for embroidery. i stocked up on cotton prewound in neutrals for piecing. i use the empties for colored thread so i can coordinate top and bottom when quilting.

i get mine here: http://www.terradonembroidery.com/clear_glide_15.htm

at just over 50 cents per prewound bobbin, they don't cost much more than brand name empty bobbins and thread separately. the time they save is the HUGE value added.

the class 15s are reusable and will work in almost all machines that use a class L. the reverse is also true.

me too
however, I use Bottom Line bobbins* because they last forever and work on my Janomes, I just rewind onto a Bernina bobbin.

* http://www.superiorthreads.com has a list of machines that take his bobbins

I purchased prewounds that are plastic for embroidery.
that was is 2003 or 2004
I have a bobbin winder and have been reusing these ever since!
Sometimes you get one that cracks and I just toss it!
but I use 5-10 bobbins a day for piecing, just wind them all in the morning and I am set to go.No stopping and rethreading to wind a bobbin!
I have used them in every machine I have and not had a problem.

I save my plastic prewounds and toss the cardboard sided ones.
