I have a white linen napkin from where I don't remember, but it makes a great damp pressing cloth. Been using it for years and, knock on wood, never fails.

Thanks in advance!
Run to the kitchen, tear off a paper towel, wet it in the sink and you've got a damp pressing cloth. And the advantage is if it gets any glue on it, you're going to chuck it into the trash anyway.

They don't disintegrate when you dampen them?

I use odd cotton fabric or what ever I can find. Dampened down and place between object being presses and iron set on cotton. It protects fabric from the direct iron. I have also. I have also use wash clothes, cotton kitchen towels etc.

Old cotton diapers IF there are any around, Men's hankies. I keep several in a drawer at end of my sewing table near the ironing board.
