My friend brought this to me. It proudly says it is Made in Japan. It is numbered on the inside with just four numbers as if it was a limited edition. There is no bobbin but there is a long spool that fits into a tube and works just like a bobbin. The manual is a hoot! It says that if your sewing machine is not working it is probably something you did so figure it out. The sewing machine is fine. The case is wood covered with paper which is similar to suitcases made in the late foties and fifties. I have googled and found very little. Does anyone know the value of this sewing machine?

These machines are very common and really not worth all that much. I've seen them go for $5-$50 depending on condition and how much someone is willing to pay. Of course I've also seen people think just because they're old they can ask $300 for one on Craigs List...and they don't sell;>

my friend tried it on Craigslist and even made it cheap but it did not sell. I never saw a sewing machine that used anything except a round bobbin.

That bobbin is called a shuttle bobbin. My granny's treadle has this type bobbin. I don't remember her ever having extra bobbins, but she must have. Granny's treadle was made in 1908, so guess the shuttles were very popular then.

This one is electric and has a light mounted on the side. I just tired to move it and OH MY, it is heavy!!

I've never seen one like it.

Looks like a Japanese clone of my Singer 128. Mine is a very heavy 3/4 size machine manufactured in 1952 with a motor, a light and a shuttle. Miss Mamie came in a pretty bentwood case. I paid #35.

Interesting. Back in the fifties, I guess the Japanese copied off of us or did we off of them? I will look up the Singer 128.
