Default Price for Pfaff QE4.2 and Performance 5.0

What is a lowest price you've seen for the Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.2 and the Pfaff Performance 5.0? We travel (a lot) and I wouldn't mind driving or even flying to get a better price on either of these sewing machines.

My dealer is currently asking $1999 for the QE4.2 (although they've had it advertised as low as $1799). I think I've read someone paid only $1499 for the QE4.2.

My dealer's price on the Performance 5.0 is currently $2499, but again, I've read some paid only $1999 for their new Performance 5.0.

I'm curious to know if there's any room for negotiating a better price and was wondering if you mind sharing what the price is for these two machines in your neck of the woods.

Have you looked for prices on the internet?? I worry that you won't get good service from your local dealer if you buy elsewhere.

Not much help to you, but over here the RRP (Recommended Retail Price) is £1119, but I have seen it online for £999. At the current exchange rate, it's about right. Oddly, the QE4.0 is still being sold at £1099! Performance 5 is £1799.

There is obviously global price fixing, as everything quilt-related is much cheaper in the US except sewing machines (we pay $22 for just over a yard of fabric). Manufacturers set their prices and retailers have to stick to them.

How on earth can anyone quilt with prices at $22.00 a yard/meter?

Ouch .... fabric there is expensive! I complain about LQS prices of $12.99 (so consequently buy online). Is it cheaper for you to buy/ship internationally?

Jean - with great difficulty! I mostly sale shop - when the price comes down to about $14 or if there's another offer on i.e. buy one, get one half price.

icul8rg8r - yes I buy a lot from y'all. Much as I'd like to support my LQS more (I've bought my machines there and go to quite a few classes too), it's simply not feasible all the time. I'm also lucky in that DH sometimes goes to Houston, so I order quite a few things to be delivered to his hotel.
