I went to a little fabric shop today and saw some beautiful batik's, thought I think all batik's are beautiful. The girl told me that they were $12.99/yd. I said you are kidding right? I told her I could go to Hancocks of Paducah and pay 9.99/yd. if I wanted Batik's that badly. I still have sticker shock from it.

Has anyone else seen Batik's this highly priced?

Brick and mortar stores can't compete with big retailers or internet shops. I think that price is high, but I've not shopped batiks from my LQS recently. The price of all fabric is up, so no I'm not surprised. And yes, you can buy over the net as I do too, but I do still try and stay local for some purchases to keep the doors open at my LQS.

I was in a shop the other day and the Batiks ranged from 9.99-18.99/yd! I'm collecting Batiks for a quilt now and that's a bit scary.

Yes, I visited a shop in Louisville KY in March and their batiks were 12.99. I did buy 1 yard of a red because I really really liked it :)

I probably would have falling on the floor if she had said $18.99/yd.

I am willing to admit, my stash is large enough - time to utilize it. No use in saving.

Hah! Some of JoAnn's Fabrics batiks are $12.99 !!!! Why on earth would I pay that at JoAnn's when I can get such better quality online for such a better price???

I was shopping Batiks just today at a LQS. I didn't look at them all but what I got were $9 & $10. Lucky I could get them as had just bought gas @ $4.28 a gal.
