I've been going through boxes of my mother's sewing/quilting things... my sweet DH let me bring a truckload of boxes home when we cleaned out Momma's sewing room... Anyway, I just found a little scrap of paper with her handwriting...
"A stash is where a fabric without a project goes to wait." It may not be new to many of you, but I'd never heard the phrase and thought you might like it. Happy Quilting!! |
I like that!
Never heard that before - Thanks for sharing
Very sweet, Thanks for sharing
very true...
What a great find. I like the saying. :D
I say, my stash is fabric waiting for its purpose. It just hasn't told me what it wants to be yet!
My mother passed about a year ago, it was fun finding little things like that. They make you smile. |
You need to frame that little piece of paper because that is so the truth. Never heard it put that way but I love it.
Cute saying. I have never heard of that one before.
thanks, I like that saying

What a wonderful treasure. |
What a cute saying! Never heard it until now and yes, so true!
Glad you have your Momma's things, that's extra special!! :D:D |
some one should do this in cross stitch so we can put it in our sewing room
So true!
Good morning everyone... it warms my heart to read your comments! And I hadn't thought of framing this little, precious scrap of paper, but I'm definitely going to do just that. And the idea of matting it with little scraps of fabric... perfect. I'll use some of Momma's fabric scraps! She was a wonderful woman... I thank God every day for His gift of her love.
I haven't heard it but I love it. Thank you for sharing it with us.

What a perfect way to describe a Stach....I love it!!!!
The saying is wonderful, but the best part is of the story is that the note is in your mother's handwriting. I too would have it framed for your sewing room.
New to me too, think I will make a sampler with this on it to hang on the west window in my utility (stash) room. Thanks for sharing.
I will have to use that on DH!
Make t-shirts...you'll make a fortune. I'll order the first one!
My hushand use to ask that perpetual question Why buy more when you have 1/2 of JoAnns already. I use to tell him They are waiting for the rest of the fabrics to make the right quilt that this was the waiting room and I always got the same head shake of his confusion and promptly told him how lucky he was that I only had 2 fetishes Fabric and Shoes and they were both way cheaper than Diamonds and Pearls Thru the years I quit buying fancy shoes now I use that money to buy more Fabric :D :D
I have never heard that before. Thank you for sharing! I agree, frame that piece of paper. You will enjoy having it where you can have a remembrance of your Mom close by you.
