I doesn't have to be blue. They come in all colors. Google pool noodle.

Quiltngolfer 09-08-2013 08:21 AM

Great idea, thanks. I love your sewing table. What kind is it?

MargeD 09-08-2013 08:39 AM

I agree with Grandma Bonnie - you were really using your noodle. Talk about thinking "outside" the box. Way to go.

AZ Jane 09-08-2013 08:44 AM

LOL, another "DUH!" moment, why didn't I think of that!! Good Job!!

michelleoc 09-08-2013 08:52 AM

Wow! That is a brilliant idea!

tessagin 09-08-2013 08:58 AM

Dang! I have a noodle. Never thought of that for behind the machine. I use them in the winter for draft dodgers! Thanks for sharing!

star619 09-08-2013 09:10 AM

Great idea and congratulations on such a neat sewing area! Mine usually has 3 UFO's and at least one cat on it!

I picked one up yesterday for $.29 on clearance at CVS.

Great idea! And I want to see the quilt block you are working on! Love the color!

benndm 09-08-2013 10:15 AM

Cover it with fabric and call it a big pin cushion

patsynel 09-08-2013 10:41 AM

GREAT IDEA - and inexpensive too!

roserips 09-08-2013 01:48 PM

I need to do that, outstanding idea!

Sheri.a 09-08-2013 01:55 PM

Wow! Thanks for all of the wonderful comments (blush, blush) and additional ideas.

Bellaboo, it never occured to me to use between the matress and headboard. I'm deffinately going to use that idea!

Mjsylvstr, I am working on a Judy Neimeyer pattern, Japanese fan (http://www.quiltworx.com/patterns/japanese-fan/) a very ambitious project for me. I expect it will take a year to complete at the rate I work. :o The fabric is from Moda's Over the Rainbow batik line.

Quiltngolfer, the sewing cabinet is a Koala cabinet which is perfect for my needs since I have to share "my sewing room" with a dining table. Twice a year I close up my cabinet (hide my sewing) and let my family in for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. :D

Thanks again! I love the quilting board!

MS quilter 09-08-2013 02:14 PM

I can't put it any better, so I second Grandma Bonnie. Thanks for posting it.

chislett 09-08-2013 10:39 PM

Very clever, I have the same table and was experiencing this same problem. Thank you for sharing.

pennycandy 09-08-2013 10:54 PM

Thanks for posting your tip. I recently placed a sewing machine with a shorter bed than the opening in the cabinet. It worked very well as a quick solution to fill in the gap.

Girlfriend 09-09-2013 01:10 AM

I love it when inexpensive fixes are found.

Judy Neimeyer pattern? I just bought the same one. Getting ready to start it. Can't wait.

qwkslver 09-09-2013 02:53 AM

Also if you have puppies/kittens a noodle around your power cords will save you much pain. (Ask me how I know).

jeanharville 09-09-2013 03:47 AM

Enjoyed reading all the good noodle tips. Thanks for posting.
