I hope you people realize that we are talking about a very sophisticated "computer" here. It is not just a sewing machine. I have old machines too and they are great for some things, like quilting and other straight line stitching. But we who want to embroider and design like our computerized machines too. My Diamond is a $9000 machine and if it costs me $100-$200 a year to keep it serviced I will do that. I sure don't complain when I take my Toyota truck in for it's maintainence and inspection every year. And I keep it lubed. I plan to have it for a long time; it is my investment. And when something goes wrong in my house I get the necessary serviceman in to do it right. While I may not like his charge, the work needs to be done so I pay what it takes.

the last time I had my machine cleaned it was just under $100. That seems to be be the norm here - There is nothing cheap about sewing anymore.

There is a somewhat new quilt shoppe that handles those machines. I enquired how much it would be to have my machine serviced (no parts etc) and I was told $60.

That sounds to high to me. Did you question them before you left the machine?

The shop that does the servicing that charges $60 explained the best time of the week to bring my "Rose" in and that I shouldn't let anyone (including me!) try to take it apart and service it. She said there are special tools etc. that the average repair person doesn't have.

My Singer 9940 is is the shop right now and I was told it would be $89.

Water had backed up water in our furnace room - it went thru the wall to the basement (carpeted) and he charged us $350. What he did? Used a snake!!$#@ I guess we ALL have to be plumbers, carpenters, electricians because we will ALL get the shaft!

Maybe you need to contact the better business bureau and find out how this quilt shop rates with them.

I spent $150 recently to have my old Viking 5230 serviced----and now it is down again... NOT going back there again! Someone closer is now Husqvarna certified--he says $60 unless he needs parts.....

I have a D-1. The local store here charges $120 for standard service for anything computerized. I find that even high.
