Wonderful ideas for scrappies. I really like both but I am intrigued with the way you made strips with scraps for the second one.

Love the scrappy stained glass blocks! You've been really busy.

Both of your quilts are beautiful - just when you think you've seen them all someone posts a picture of a unique quilt! Nice work.

oh my gosh, your two scrappy WIPs are GORGEOUS! Hope you will finish them....they are truly stunning. I use this tailor's clapper (solid piece of wood bought years ago!!!) to flatten thick seams....a hammer, rubber mallet, etc. will work just fine, too.

Hammers are good, clapper works well open seams and in an emergency trim the seam .
I did find when doing kaleidoscope 2 different ways with 2 different people the one that was the flattest centre was constructed by not having a point on the triangle put a straight top. It was also easier the sew and keep lined up.

I have a small plastic covered mallet that my husband gave me and I used it on some of my farmers wife quilt block that had 6-8 pieces at one seam. A very experienced quilter and long armer told me that secret and it really does work. I was surprised and very pleased with the results. I figure it blends the fabrics together like setting your seams with an iron.
